New comer to this country, I sense that I am learning almost everything about American politics through today's campaign. This article of Bill Moyers expresses everything I feel and I fear. After Nevada causus, my political antennas tell me : "Watch out! Fascism". Italy as in the past has served as a "laboratoire politique", a political lab. Brutal, perverse, sexist, low brow Berlusconi - the trajectory began already 20 years ago. Not first time in history. Big slobs calling to the frustrations of the mob, and vomiting hate, fear and low instincts. Bill Moyers description of the submissiveness of the press to faces of brutal domination - provide the show goes on, reminds me also of the rise of Le Pen I and Le Pen II in France torn apart between a left blind to new forms of terror and resentment and the old racist and revanchist right. To paraphrase the "divine Marquis": Encore un effort Américains pour être républicains (and yes, I am aware of the double-meaning of "Républicains" when conflating French and American contexts - and playing on it)))
